York’s Distinguished Catholic Alumni. Sacred Music. Religious Freedom Concerns.
Editor Mickey Conlon is joined by associate editor Quinton Amundson and reporter Luke Mandato in an episode brought to you by Missions and Martyrs, the Register’s new commemorative magazine celebrating 100 years of the Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland, Ontario. The team reflects on Canada’s strong showing at the FIFA World Cup and various Catholic athletes making their mark on and off the pitch. Mandato shares his story on Ryan Nembhard of the Dallas Mavericks, a recipient of the York Catholic District School Board’s Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Catholic values that define Nembhard’s journey. Amundson highlights two inspiring stories of Catholics making beautiful sacred music, using their talents to glorify God. The conversation turns to address growing concerns over the proposed federal Bills C-22 and C-34 and their potential impact on religious freedom, with Amundson sharing insights from those he interviewed.
